Gwen
The founder, Gwen has over 16 years experience in pattern making, garment development and production for independent fashion brands. In addition, she has a bachelor in Business Management and
over 10 years of fashion retail and wholesale management experience. Because of her background, Gwen has a high level of understanding regarding all aspects of the fashion business.
Gwen’s pattern making career began in San Francisco where she attended a pattern making trade school called Apparel Arts. She then went to work for Nooworks, an artist driven locally manufactured
clothing line, as a part-time pattern maker and full-time business operations manager. Within a year she was promoted to head pattern maker and production manager. She would have likely stayed
there forever if it weren’t for her relocation to Vancouver, BC.
Gwen launched Symmetry Patterns in 2017 and has grown the business from pattern development and samples to full service production studio with a team of sewers and pressers. The heart of the
business remains focused on excellent quality and sustainability. Running a small local manufacturing business where employees are paid fairly and no corners are cut isn’t easy but it remains a
form of resistance for Gwen against fast fashion and the destruction it inflicts on our planet.

Stuart
Stuart is born and raised in Vancouver BC. After a lifetime of wearing clothes and being very good at doing stuff he knew he would be a good fit at Symmetry Patterns. Whenever he isn’t buried under a mountain of clothes or encased in a cloud of steam you can find him riding bikes around the city, or coaching his sons rugby team( go Lomas!).
